Since 2017, Förnya has restored over a thousand outdoor furniture settings across Sydney, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and the Sunshine Coast. What began as Sydney Staining Services is now something more considered — a Scandinavian-led approach built on one conviction: that thorough preparation is where quality is either made or abandoned. We don't cover timber up. We uncover it. Every job starts with the grain, and ends when the grain is worth looking at.

There is a word in Swedish — förnya — that means to renew, to restore, to bring something back to what it was always meant to be.

It is the perfect name. Not because it sounds good on a business card, but because restoration is genuinely the story of how this business came to exist.

In 2010, a young Swede named Par Arnoldson landed in Sydney carrying a broken past and a quiet hope that Yahweh was doing something he couldn't yet see. What followed was slow, patient, and real — the kind of restoration that works piece by piece, layer by layer. The way you sand back decades of weathering from a piece of timber and find something beautiful underneath that was always there.

Par found healing. He found a wife and five children. He found a craft he loved. And he built a business.

Once you have experienced genuine restoration yourself, the desire to restore everything you can see becomes the most natural thing in the world. That is Förnya. Every deck sanded back, every teak setting returned from grey to gold — it is all, in some way, a reflection of that original story.
